What is Acceleration?

To successfully complete this WebQuest, follow these steps:

Phase One

Review and Pretest:

First, click on the Review and Pretest link to the right and take the quiz. Once complete, it will automatically send the teacher your scores.
There are ten questions:

  • Four questions are about gravity.
  • Four questions are about potential and kinetic energy.
  • Two bonus questions are about acceleration.

Answer all ten questions. Your total score is out of 8 points, but since there are two bonus questions that can be added into your final score, the total possible point value is 10/8.
You may retake the quiz as many times as you want, but you can only submit your score once.

Phase Two

Acceleration Lesson:

After you have completed the quiz, click on the Lesson link to the right. There, print out the worksheet and follow the directions contained on the worksheet and on the Lesson page.

Phase Three

Acceleration Activity:

Next, click on the Activity link to the right. Follow the directions on that page to complete the Acceleration Activity.

Phase Four

Journal of Experience:

Lastly, pull out your Science Notebook and write a journal entry answering the following questions:

  1. What do you remember about gravity, potential energy, and kinetic energy? What did you forget?
  2. What did you learn from the Acceleration Lesson and Acceleration Activity? What was hard for you?
  3. What do you want to learn more about?
  4. If you were the teacher, what would you change about the WebQuest, the Acceleration Lesson, or the Acceleration Activity? Why?
